Sawasdee krup! Welcome back to my travel blog.
Today, I’m sharing my experience at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bangkok Central Pier. Located in the vibrant riverside district of Sathon, this hotel is a prime choice for travelers seeking efficiency and accessibility.

It’s not a five-star luxury resort, but if you value "Value for Money" and "Location," this might be your best bet in Bangkok. Here is my honest take on the IHG member benefits, room quality, and the reality of their free breakfast.

1. What Makes This Hotel Stand Out?

The hotel's biggest asset is right in its name: "Central Pier." Being just a 3-minute walk from the Sathorn Pier and BTS Saphan Taksin Station is a game-changer.

You can easily bypass Bangkok’s notorious traffic by hopping on a Chao Phraya Express Boat to visit IconSiam, Wat Arun, or the Grand Palace. Alternatively, the BTS Skytrain takes you straight to the shopping hubs of Siam and Sukhumvit in no time.

As part of the IHG group, the service is reliable, making it a safe and professional choice for both business travelers and solo adventurers.

2. The Room: Functional and Fresh

The rooms follow the classic Holiday Inn Express style—clean, modern, and efficient.

  • Space: Enough room to spread out your luggage. They also offer "Suites" which include a kitchenette for longer stays.
  • Interior: A refreshing blue-themed decor. Since it's a relatively new property, the bathroom and facilities felt very clean and well-maintained.
  • Bed: A signature feature is the choice of "Soft" and "Firm" pillows. Getting a good night's sleep is guaranteed.

✨ IHG One Rewards: Even Basic Members Benefit!

If you’re considering this stay, make sure to join IHG One Rewards. Even as a "Club Member" (the entry-level), you can request a "Late Check-out." Since many flights from Bangkok depart late at night, having those extra hours to shower and pack is an absolute lifesaver.

3. Free Breakfast... Honestly, It’s Just "Okay" (lol)

One of the perks of Holiday Inn Express is the "Express Start Breakfast" included for all guests.

To be completely honest, don't expect a lavish gourmet buffet. It offers the basics: eggs, sausages, salad, bread, and a few Thai dishes. It’s perfect for fueling up before a day of sightseeing, but if you’re a foodie, you might find it a bit underwhelming. However, it’s a great safe option if you want to avoid street food for breakfast.

4. Location and Logistics

Getting here is a breeze. It’s a short walk from Saphan Taksin Station. The nearby Robinson Department Store is perfect for picking up snacks or souvenirs at the supermarket (Tops).

5. Practical Tips for a Smooth Stay

  • Flexible Check-in: Unlike many hotels in Japan, they are quite flexible here. I managed to check in around 12:30 PM as my room was already prepared. It’s always worth asking!
  • Shower Only: Keep in mind there are no bathtubs, only walk-in showers. The water pressure was excellent.
  • Transport: While near the station, the street in front is a one-way road. If you're calling a Grab or Bolt, give yourself an extra 5-10 minutes.

Final Verdict: A Top Choice for Practical Travelers

With the reliability of the IHG brand and its unbeatable location, this hotel is a solid "Yes." The breakfast might be average, but you can use the money you saved for a fancy dinner elsewhere. Highly recommended for those who want a smart and easy stay in Bangkok!
